AVICII takes LEONA LEWIS to court, hearing on Monday!

We have an update in the David vs Goliath battle that AVICII and his management are fighting against Leona Lewis and her record label SYCO (Simon Cowell). If you don’t know the whole story please read our previous article by clicking here. It looks like all the efforts from AVICII and his management have been heard, and their arguments were good enough to get an hearing for an injunction to the high court on Monday.

On other word, on Monday AVICII will be heard by the judge on whether his copyright infringement claim against Leona Lewis “Collide” and his track “Fade Into Darkness” is valid. If the injunction request is upheld, it will block the release of Collide scheduled for September 4th.

I really don’t know what to predict as an outcome of Monday hearing. Collide is without a doubt using the same instrumental as AVICII‘s Fade into Darkness. But Major labels stealing from smaller label and artists has been done for years, and usually solved with the Big one giving the small one credit and cash. However in AVICII‘s case, he refused to take the money nor the credit and just want justice for his hard work.

I really hope the judge upheld the injunction, which would be a huge step forward towards the reward of the creativity of upcoming artists. If AVICII wins, this would also be taken as an example for future [or past] cases. And eventually, prevent Major labels from stealing from smaller artist against their will. LET’S GO AVICII!
