Guys! And Gals! First Botnek and now these guys. Vicetone just answered some questions for us. How awesome is that! It started as just an email asking if they would, I never thought they would actually reply let alone answer the questions I put to them. Anyway, here are there answers.
First off, I would like to thank you both for taking time out of your schedule to answer these questions.
For those who don’t know (although I’m sure everyone should by now) could you introduce yourselves and tell the readers a little bit about how you met and started producing?
We’re Ruben and Victor, both 21 years old and we make music all the time. We met when we were 15 in high school and became friends pretty quickly due to our mutual love for dance music. We started producing in 2012 and things took off from there!
I think you guys are a prime example of how in the 21st century anyone can make it big if there music is great, you guys are huge and its only been just over a year now since you released your first download. Did you expect to go viral and gain as much following as you have in such a short period of time?
Thank you, we aren’t huge though – we’re still very new to the scene. We didn’t expect it to take off like this though – in a year we went from starting to make music to touring all around the US and playing shows in LA, Las Vegas, London, Ibiza, etc… we never thought that would happen so fast.
Unfortunately I personally have only been following you since Hope but I know some big names have been following longer. Nicky Romero, for example. How has the support of the ‘Protocol family’ helped and influenced your development over this last year?
Nicky’s been a great friend and mentor for us. He’s very down to earth and incredibly talented, so we feel lucky to be supported by him! We released 2 tracks on his Protocol label and both hit the Prog House top 10 on Beatport, and we’re happy to be part of the Protocol label crew!
Now, more recently Tremble received a massive place on Beatport. Firstly, well done and I love the track. What was your inspiration behind it and did it take long to produce?
Thanks! It took a full week to nail the sound of Tremble, but the idea was there pretty quickly. The orchestral breakdown was a lot of fun to produce!
I know you’re in North America touring right now, how is that going? I’m sure the welcome has been amazing.
It’s been great so far, we’ve played Ruby Skye in San Fransisco and Avalon in Hollywood LA, which has been our favorites so far. We’re now in the middle of a North American tour alongside Nicky Romero.
What have you guys got coming up, new releases, collaborations?
LOTS of new originals! While in the US, we’ve been working with some very talented people. We were in the studio in LA for a couple of days to work with writers and vocalists on some new tracks, and the results are amazing… just wait till you hear it!
What are you guys listening to at the moment? What’s on your Ipods?
A lot of older stuff that we used to listen to years ago. It’s really inspiring and makes you realize what kind of nostalgic effect music can have on you. We hope that our music will have that same effect on people when they listen to our older tracks.
One last question, have you got any tips or advice for the readers?
Eat, sleep, rave, repeat!
There you have it folks, Eat, Sleep, Rave and Repeat!
