He is coming back with another amazing production called “Jupiter“, which really reminds me of something that could come from Eric Prydz or his protege Jeremy Olander – his pads, his chords etc.  are tattooed Pryda. Its not a big surprise since Von Der Lohe – as many of us – has been looking up to the Swedish mastermind as a producing model. I hope “Jupiter” gets picked up, anyway I cannot wait to hear more stuff from him.

Preview: 9Five & ANSOL – Fuckin’ Smart [JOIA Records] http://www.jadorehousemusic.com/2012/02/preview-9five-ansol-fuckin-smart-joia-records/ http://www.jadorehousemusic.com/2012/02/preview-9five-ansol-fuckin-smart-joia-records/#comments Fri, 03 Feb 2012 21:04:47 +0000 tomaa http://www.jadorehousemusic.com/?p=11204 ANSOL is an international duo composed of Aki Nair from Vancouver (Canada) and Sebastian Soll from Oslo (Norway). They have been releasing quite a bit last year through labels such as Work Machine, Bazooka Records.

I haven’t been a fan of their past production as I thought they were missing in originality, although Funka on Confidence Records showed that they were getting somewhere with their sound. BUT this upcoming track called “Fuckin’ Smart” in collaboration with 9Five sounds really good. It is a bit different from their past production with a definite electro sound to it, the build up is also absolutely monstrous and delivers a killer drop. It seems that they have found a nice template which perhaps will allow them to get more and more release out there. In the meantime looking forward to this release.

Fuckin’ Smart is set to be released on Joia Records on February 13th 2012.

More female producers in EDM http://www.jadorehousemusic.com/2012/02/more-female-producers-in-edm/ http://www.jadorehousemusic.com/2012/02/more-female-producers-in-edm/#comments Thu, 02 Feb 2012 22:36:38 +0000 tomaa http://www.jadorehousemusic.com/?p=11180 I have always asked myself this question, how come there seems to have a good ratio female/male singers, but yet when it comes to Djing or producing, its mostly dudes. Why when we all think of a dj, the first image that comes through our head is a male?

With the rise of Electronic Dance Music in the music industry, we could expect that logically more and more female producers out there. Now we are not here to describe a misogynist industry – no – After all, there is some great examples of female producers out there; Maya Jane Coles, Nervo, Nina Kravitz etc. who are having great success in the industry. But we have noticed that the ratio male/female producer is not the same as any other music genre.

So what is it? here is a couple theory:

1. Computer Geek: To be a Electronic music producer, you need to master a few computer software such as Logic, Pro tools, Fruity Loops etc. These skills are related to the IT industry, which is mostly dominated by men. Yes, think about it; Bill Gates (Microsoft), Zach Zuckerberg (Facebook), Steve Chen/Chad Hurley/Jawed Karim (YouTube), the world most famous programmers and now billionaires are mostly men. Research of shown that women are in general more attracted by social interaction type industries such as Marketing, Communication, Human Resources, Tourism.
So the use of all these software to create music, and the need to “cave” in the studio in front of these software would repel most women from becoming Electronic producers? However these hours of production are just one part of the job, successful producers get the chance to tour where they meet fans etc. isn’t this social interaction?

2. Macho Macho Men: This is my second and last theory; an industry dominated by men, producing together, as friends. Djiing/Producing is like a brotherhood, where among friends we help each other. And like in High school, guys don’t hang out with girls (unless they have some other intentions…). So the theory is that men would almost instinctively just gather among them to produce, and would have no interest in bringing a girl to the group by fear to break the bro-code?

Like in anything, having a mix is a good thing. If the number of Girl producers increase, they would definitely bring something different perhaps even new to the industry, influence for the better.

Finally, far from my head to start a positive discrimination towards women, I would like to invite all producers; men & women to send us their production (bootleg, remix, original) to promo@jadorehousemusic.com

Michael Woods returns back to business with a release on his very own Diffused Music label. This time he takes his signature main room sound, quite literally, ‘Airborne‘! You would expect nothing less than an anthem from Michael and he doesn’t disappoint, ‘Airborne‘ is full of energy, perfectly engineered leads and spine tingling breakdowns all building into a drop of hard hitting drums and quirky bass line. The melody that Michael introduces us at the end of the first verse becomes the epic point of the track. This is definitely one for everyone from intimate clubs to global festivals! ‘Airborne‘ will be released February 10 on Diffused Music via Beatport across the globe.
