News: Electric Daisy Carnival 2012 [MTV News]

What began as a modest event nearly two decades ago in California is now one of the biggest dance music experiences on the planet. Yes, we’re talking about Electric Daisy Carnival, which is gearing up for its return to Sin City on June 8, after a successful move last year to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. And before you book your tickets, MTV News has the exclusive phase-one lineup!

According to estimates, a whopping 300,000 carnival-goers (up from 240,000 in 2011) will walk through the gates during this year’s three-day EDC. They can expect to see heavy hitters like Tiësto, Avicii, Afrojack, Steve Angello and Above & Beyond, just to name a fraction.

“Before most gigs these days, I’m more excited than nervous. An event like EDC is the exception, though,” Above & Beyond‘s Jono Grant told us of the gig. “It’s nerve-racking and exciting playing in front of so many people. Every touch of the mixer and every decision you make has some kind of effect on a huge audience. You really give it your all.”

With awe-inspiring pyrotechnics, art installations and a singular carnival culture, EDC has become the Super Bowl of the dance music world. Dance superstars will take to three main stages built on 1,000 acres of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway‘s infield. The founder of Insomniac Events, Pasquale Rotella, emphasized that the Carnival is more than just a series of concerts, and that’s the secret to its success. …Read More

News: Marquee 2012 DJ Residencies

Since a couple of years Las Vegas has set the goal of becoming the Ibiza of North America, attracting the biggest DJs, opening the biggest clubs with parties going 24/7, even transferring one of North America biggest festival (EDC) from Los Angeles.

Among all the clubs in Vice city, XS nightclub and Marquee Nightclub are dominating the market, signing exclusivity with some of the biggest EDM producers.

Marquee just announced today they signed Above & Beyond, ATB, Benny Benassi, Chuckie, Dirty South, Erick Morillo, Kaskade, Markus Schulz and Redfoo for exclusive residencies in 2012.

With the rise of EDM in the music and nightlife industry – does this mean more and more DJs will sign residencies with clubs, slowly decreasing the role of event promoters?

Preview: R3hab & Swanky Tunes ft. Max’C – Sending My Love (Kaskade Remix) [Wall]

Sending My Love” was one of the biggest track of this summer 2011, being played from the biggest artists from David Guetta to The Swedish House Mafia! And we can understand why; in one side R3hab, one of the biggest breakthrough of the year and definitely one of the most demanded producer of the moment. On the other side; Swanky Tunes the Russian trio who is pushing the limits of the production ratio of quality/quantity with brio. Add to this, the beautiful voice of Max C.

Afrojack‘s label; Wall Recordings, just revealed that Kaskade is doing a REMIX! Take a listen to the youtube preview below, “Sending my love (Kaskade Remix) will be released on December 19th 2011 on Wall Recordings.

Preview: Kaskade – Eyes (Swanky Tunes Remix) [Ultra]

With the previous preview of R3hab’s remix out less than a day ago, I am having a difficult time deciding which of the two is more tantalizing. Having released a remix of Tiesto’s Maximal Crazy in partnership with none other than R3hab, it seems like the two are thriving to reach a similar market by targeting the same songs and not only restricting themselves to song choice but with remix style as well, as both are focusing on introducing an electro kick to Kaskade’s hit. Overall I always enjoy whatever the Russian trio churns out. So here you go give the remix a listen.

Preview: Kaskade – Eyes (R3hab Remix)

With his prior remixes of Benassi’s Close To Me as well as Katy Perry’s The One That Got Away, R3hab continues his latest streak of remixes by now focusing on Kaskade’s ever so popular Eyes. Instituting a great contrast between the original’s slow pace and build, dutch producer R3hab is able introduce some of his characteristic electro components. I would highly recommend checking this out and while it is far from dethroning the original in my opinion, it is a nice breath of fresh air.
